A Message from Ling Ling Chang

Dear Friends,

As 2019 comes to a close, I’d like to wish you Happy Holidays and take pause to reflect on how far we’ve come this year. Because of your support and my amazing team, we have made quite the impact in the district.

Senator Ling Ling Chang
29th District

10 Highlights from 2019

  1. Veterans – California is home to 2 million military veterans, including many who struggle to cope with PTSD. The Governor signed my bill to waive pet adoption fees for veterans, bringing together veterans seeking companion animals and pets in need of a home.

  2. Cyber Safety – My bill to equip students in higher education with preventative and educational information about cyberbullying was signed into law. It’s the first bill in California to address cyberbullying in higher education and carries the support of the California State Student Association.

  3. Businesses – I’m helping California roll out the red carpet for small businesses by hosting small business seminars and blocking unnecessary regulations.

  4. Financial Empowerment – As Vice Chair of Senate Banking & Financial Institutions, I helped pass several new bills, including one that caps predatory lending and another that helps unbanked and underbanked Californians.

  5. Homelessness – Millions of dollars in emergency homelessness aid have been brought back to the 29th Senate District.

  6. Seniors – I worked across party lines to deter “pay-for-delay” deals that keep generic drugs off the market. This makes prescription drugs affordable and helps seniors gain access to life-saving generic medication earlier.

  7. Taxes – Ending the year with a perfect score from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. I’m proud to receive a 100% A rating for my work to protect taxpayers.

  8. Education – Brought Sacramento to the district by hosting a field hearing on student success at Cal Poly Pomona. We focused on supporting those struggling with food insecurity, mental health, and housing instability.

  9. Accountability – The Joint Legislative Audit Committee approved my request for an audit of the California State Lottery, reviewing the growing disparity between record-breaking revenues and the lottery’s contribution to our public education system.

  10. Women & Girls in STEM – Established the 2019 Women and Girls in STEM Week to encourage today’s youth to participate in STEM fields.
