SACRAMENTO - Senator Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar) announced today that she has been selected to serve on five committees for the 2019-20 legislative session:
- Banking and Financial Institutions (Vice Chair)
- Business, Professions and Economic Development (Vice Chair)
- Energy, Utilities and Communications
- Governmental Organization
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on committees that reflect many of the priorities of the taxpayers in the 29th Senate District,” said Senator Chang. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to address some of California’s toughest challenges. Working together, we can foster a competitive business climate, allow our economy to thrive, and advocate for families in California.”
The Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee has jurisdiction over bills relating to financial institutions, corporations, and retail credit interest rates. The Vice-Chairmanship of this committee will put Senator Chang in an important consumer protection role for critical financial services including student loans and access to homeownership.
The Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee is responsible for protecting consumers from harmful professional and business practices and helping increase California’s local, national, and global economic competitiveness. As Vice Chair, Senator Chang will fight for a friendlier jobs climate that will encourage entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment in the state.
Senator Chang brings significant experience to her committee assignments as a former Mayor of Diamond Bar, an Assembly member, and President of the Walnut Valley Water District where she was widely regarded by her colleagues as a proven consensus builder to make communities safer and more livable. Throughout her career, she has worked diligently to protect taxpayers, champion pro-jobs policies, and promote the importance of STEM education.
