District Internship Program
One of the chief roles of a district office is to keep the local community connected with the legislative work taking place in Sacramento. This is done through constituent correspondence, community events, and everyday involvement with the community. Our district internship program provides an excellent chance for students to get involved in the legislative process while exploring a career in public service.
Successful interns are enthusiastic, willing to learn, detail-oriented, have excellent phone manners and a positive attitude. In the fast-paced environment of a State Senate office, the ability to ensure timeliness and accuracy of work is essential. Interns will develop strong research and communications skills and will gain valuable experience working in a team environment.
All interested applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, and dates of availability to Narah.Jayasekera@sen.ca.gov.
Apply for the California Legislative Fellows Program
Established in 1973, the California Senate Fellows (CSF) program is one of the oldest and most distinguished service learning programs in the country. The CSF program grew out of a desire to provide people with insight into the legislative process through experiential learning. It offers college graduates a paid, full-time legislative staff position in the State Capitol for 11 months.
Apply for the California Center on Science and Technology Fellows Program
Each year, CCST recruits a corps of PhD scientists and engineers to spend one year in Sacramento serving the California State Legislature. Working as legislative staff in the State Senate or State Assembly, these scientific minds get a front-row seat learning about the craft and process of lawmaking in the State of California. Talented scientists and engineers gain valuable career training in public policy, and lawmakers gain access to science-savvy staff to help them craft fact-based policies for California's future.
